Stage 1
STAGE 1:
Columbia Hills Road Race – April 23, 2010
Making its debut in 2006 as stage 2 of the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic and appearing again in 2007 the Columbia Hills Road Race is a classic course. Neither favoring the true sprinter nor climber this course is for those who ride on brute strength. Roads are smooth and twisting always providing an opportunity for a breakaway to form. The largest climb is the Kelly Cut-Off Road at 5% for 1.5 miles. The biggest challenge typically becomes the wind which at times can blow hard across the treeless landscape and whip through the canyons. The race will start at the old Petersburg Elementary School running in a clockwise loop.
